In the beginning god created !?

Tulip wood (poplar) blanks.

Biscuit jointed for more strength.

Sash clamped and left over night.
Quick trim with a bandsaw.
The basic shape is quickly exposed, now for some detail.

Details penciled in.

Routing the main body to a lower level to give it a seperate look to the swoop.

Roughly carved out the scroll.

Drawing in the detail.

Two seperate levels.
More carving.
The scale of the job.

Routing detail can be seen now.
A better look at the carving and routing.

Like buses aren't they !

Scroll on front nd back of the guitar.

Tapers on both sides.

looking a bit neater.

All to plan so far.

Symetry, thats how you know there all the same.

Mark out the scarf joint.

Cut the scarf joint.

Simple jig to keep the joint slipping apart once clamped.

Glue overnight ready for tomorrow.
Created a simple jig to route a straight line. Saves so much time making a 5 minute jig. Especially when you have 3 guitar necks that all need to be identical.

Taking off 5mm at a time. No need to over work the router bit.

Perfectly centred so continue deeper and deeper.

Router in action.

Truss rod in.

The whole view.

Checking the allen key has room to move.

All 3 done.

A splice of wood is glued in place. Once dry this will be sanded down flush to the neck and fingerboard glued on top.

Getting rid of the bulk from the back of the head stock and back of the neck.

66 fret slots cut by hand. No machines, just me a saw and a secret jig.

Ready to be glued ! Finally !
A new card template.

Starting to looklike a guitar.

Neck will be roted in place. just clamped now.

Just clamped will be fitted soon!

Getting there!

Neck is now routed into body.

No need for the clamp.

Centre line top to bottom.

Made a template for a telecastor neck for 15th fret.

Same again at 1st fret. Use a file to get the profile.

Use a spoke shave to join the two profiles together evenly.

Neck now fits flusha nd smooth into body.

that is a pencil line between the neck not a gap.

Rear view.

Schaller machine heads fitted, EMG pickups purchased with pots. Last hardware to fit then sanding to a fine smooth finish. then some purple paint !

Purple !!!!!!!!!!!!!
